Yes, I think we should be independent. What have we got to lose? A Tory government? I’m looking forward to the vote just because it will be a novelty for Scottish people to fill in official forms while still in possession of their own belt and shoelaces. And imagine what Scotland’s annual Independence Day celebrations will look like; the fucking D-Day Landings.
Frankie Boyle – 2013
Toronto desperately needs change at City Hall. Spending has increased 43% since outgoing mayor David Miller took office — salaries and benefits by 47%. Over that same time, revenue from user fees and permits rose nearly 30% and property tax revenue by nearly a quarter — far outstripping the city’s population growth. The city has anywhere from 15% to 25% more employees than it did in 1998, depending on whose numbers you go by, and very little to show for it. All candidates in this campaign agree the city faces a $503-million budget shortfall for 2011.
Any Time the National Post tells you who to vote for remember this and the headline “ National Post endorses Rob Ford for Toronto mayor”
Lowering the corporate tax rate to 10 per cent immediately, and to 8.5 per cent after the budget is balanced in 2016 is at the centre of the PC tax plan. Instead of helping only a few companies with grants the way the Liberals do, argue the Conservatives, they’d give all companies a break by lowering the general tax rate. That would take about $600 million out of the province’s coffers this year, and $1 billion by 2017, according to the PC platform. Critics point out that Ontario already has a relatively low corporate tax rate in North American terms, while others argue that companies don’t necessarily use tax savings to create more jobs. However, the PCs are also promising to lower personal income taxes by an average of 10 per cent starting in 2018.
Seriously, can anyone read? They are going to balance the book by reducing their income. How can anyone look at this and say “this is sound fiscal policy”

There’s nothing like intentionally cutting your income to help balance the books, right? Geez. If the Tories are voted in I suspect Ontarians that voted for them may need a good lesson in basic macroeconomics ; the regan idea that cutting taxes improves overall revenues has been thoroughly disproven at this point (nearly 40 years of proof now) sigh
Oct 5, 2011 – Hudak vows to scrap Mississauga power plant:
“Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak pledged Wednesday to get rid of a gas-fired power plant west of Toronto, just one day before Ontario voters head to the polls.
The Tory leader has repeatedly derided Premier Dalton McGuinty for promising to pull the plug on the 280-megawatt facility midway through the campaign, calling it a crass attempt to grab votes.
Never forget this, while Andrea and Tim try to hang the “Gas Plant” on the Liberals; they wanted to scap them too, it’s all right-wing bullshit (even from the so called left wing NDP, who, as you may recall are associated with Brian Mulroney)
This election itself is a referendum on corruption,” she said. “I think anybody who is not prepared to understand that that’s why we’re in this campaign in the first place,… they’re not paying attention to what Ontarians are saying.
Remember Andrea Horwarth is represented by the same firm that represents Brian Mulroney… connect the dots and you can see that Andrea Horwath is selling out Ontario
