Hungarian Soup Majesty

Just had some nice soup, normally soup is not blog-worthy, but this was GREAT.

It was a Vegetarian Hungarian Cauliflower soup, loaded with pepper and tomato.  It was server unnaturally hot (volcanic) and I had a Turkey sandwich along with it.  My sinuses are draining due to the pepper content… it was that peppery.

Now I gotta go light on supper or work out harder later on…. damn.

Foodie but a Goodie

Last night NiteGirl made some REALLY great tacos.  I Should ahve taken some pix of them, I’m not a taco fan, but these were great.  The Shells were great, the meat was great the sauce was great.  Yum!

I’ve been jonesing for Greek all week and after some nice Souvlaki at work, I had a great Gyro at the 5th street market.  I really wanted more, but had to resist the temptation.

Scottish Square Sliced Sausage (aka Lorne Sausage) – Serves 4

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Ready in: 30 minutes

Ingredients: 2lbs ground/minced beef
2lbs ground pork
3 cups fine breadcrumbs
2 teaspoons pepper1
2 teaspoons nutmeg
3 teaspoons coriander
3 teaspoons salt
1 cup of water
2 teaspoons onion powder

Directions: The beef and pork should not be too lean or the sausage may end up being too dry.

1. Mix really well by hand then place in an oblong pan (you may need 2 pans) about 10 inches by 4 inches by 3 inches.
2. Place in the freezer for a little while until it’s just starting to set.
3. Remove it and cut the ‘loaves’ into slices to a thickness you like, put them into freezer bags and put them back in the freezer.
4. When you’re hungry, defrost them and fry in a little fat or oil until brown and cooked through.
