Dear Candidates: Daniel O'Neail Responds

I am afraid I do not currently have a website of my own, it is under construction. On the other hand my personal views on many subjects are public knowledge, and far better documented than any other local candidate as I have been writing a weekly column for Londontopic.ca for the last year.
If you could take the time to go to londontopic.ca and then the opinion tab you will find all of my articles, my views of industry are available under the questions to the candidates on the front section, as well as the video at the London Free Press.
If you have further questions please come out to one of the debates or email me and I will answer whatever questions you may have.

In the interest of brevity; I’m going to poke at Mr. O’Neail’s responses here

I’m at a loss here; what is the “Zen Car”?  A google search turned up Zero front-page results on the matter and I might get myself pushed to the front page if I go on about the “Zen Car” in this post enough times.  So I’ll avoid it.  Mr. O’Neail mentions the Zen Car as a the type of export that Canada should focus on, but I can’t seem to find anything about it online.  That’s not a substantive point if one can’t really learn anything about it online.

On the health care front, Mr. O’Neail is in line with the Greens, pointing out that preventative measures mean more than simple repair.

Mr. O’Neail also espouses local ownership of production facilities and resources.  Something I can strongly agree with.

I don’t see anything about international relations, unions, personal freedom or nuclear power there.  Oh Well.

I’m not a big fan of these folks, as they always seem to be of the “I am much more moral than you” stripe and relative morality is a pet peeve of mine. Additionally, they always tote those heavily graphic images of dead babies, right out there with the proverbial bloody shirt.

Usually I hassle them a bit and get on my way; but I had the opportunity to take a few pictures of them before I headed out to the shack yesterday so I snapped a few.

They weren’t sure what to think about me at first, as I got more “curt” I think they got the picture that I wasn’t just some tourist.

I didn’t call them out or insult them (I wanted them to smile ya know) but I really wanted to.

One thing that stuck out for me; there was a nurse there who quickly hid when she saw the camera, she was named “Debbie” Here’s the picture I got of her:

If you know a Debbie who works at Victoria hospital in London, tell her to use a Pseudonym when she is protesting if she doesn’t want people to know she is down with the protesters, okay?

The last time I engaged them I asked them why they thought it was appropriate to attack the poor and the victimized, but they feigned ignorance. I think the next time I see them I’ll pull the young women from the group (the ones that look like they can still have kids) and ask them on video what they will do if they (or their daughters) are raped and become pregnant. It’s provocative; but can you look at those pictures of dead babies and not feel provoked?

What about severely deformed babies (no heads and so on) are they going to force women to carry it to term?

I have no idea why they want to get involved and not get involved in more worthy causes, like poverty. It always seems that these Moral types want to get involved in something that is easy, they can condemn and feel like they have done something but it’s an easy something. Babies are easy to protect, most everyone loves babies.

It’s the parents I care about, until a baby is born, Mom and Dad matter more.

I know a bit about their motivation, I was anti-abortion until I was about 17-18. I don’t know for sure when I accepted that being anti-choice was wrong, I came to it when my brain developed the capacity to think critically instead of just emotionally I guess.

Caught this on my way home this evening, I was stuck in a LOOONG line of traffic and caught this failed staircase at the side of the road.

I love the deck chair there on the porch, as if it once held a harridan screeching commands at a worker who just gave up in frustration.

Zombies

I was excited for months about the prospect of a Zombie Walk here in London this past weekend, but as the day came closed it became clear that the whole thing was some kid’s idea and not anything serious.  Not that Zombie dress-up needs to be serious, but it didn’t seem to have anything behind it save a desire to get out on the weekend.  No permits no organization not even a flash mob kind of thing, just some kids.

Oh well.  It was called off at the last minute (as far as I know) maybe there will be one in the fall.

Twitter

I finally appear to have contracted the same twitter disorder as Joel Johnson, where my twitter kinda-sorta works.  I guess I’ll reserve complaint (as it IS free) but SweetCron can’t come quicker, really.
