The former Prince Albert teacher convicted of sexually exploiting a 15-year-old student two decades ago has received an 18-month sentence but will not be going to jail.
The Crown had been asking for jail, but instead, the judge gave Bonnie McLachlan, 53, 200 hours of community service and a conditional sentence that will be served at home.
This sounds like an injustice for the victim

Sun News Network will begin to make its case for mandatory carriage in front of the CRTC on Tuesday.
Mandatory carriage would force cable companies to give the news channel a prominent spot on digital and analog basic cable service, making it easier to find the channel on your TV.
If approved, the channel would be able to collect a fee of 18 cents a month from English cable subscribers — money it says it needs to remain sustainable and on the air.
