Just got out of the movie, I have a little time to get a quick review in.

in a word, thrilling. the film, once it got going was exciting and gripping and bloody all at once.

EDIT:  Stupid Handheld!

I was writing that on a bench at the mall after walking from the movie after it ended.  The hand held stopped working… damn.

As I was about to say, the film was great.  I knew what was coming, the plot was no secret to me and I still loved it. I don’t think anyone who likes Action/Drama/Myths will come away disappointed.

Now… there was one scene, one scene in particular that made me laugh out loud, and I don’t think it was played for laughs.

It made me laugh sop loud that my laugh was infectious and the whole front of the theater burst into raucous laughs.

I won’t say which, but I will say it has to do with fearing the whip.

Well, not really hacking.  I decided to try and use my PDA/Phone to trigger my new Rebel VIA IR.  After numerous false starts and misses, I found these magic codes:

> > Immediate trigger:
> > 0000 007d 0001 0001 000f 00f2 000f 0cdb
> > 2-second delay
> > 0000 007f 0001 0001 000f 00b0 000f 0cbe
These are the HEX codes for the IR commands needed t o perform the remote trigger.

Here are two of the first few pictures I took.  I’m still working it out, but it totally worked!

Now I just need a remote wire trigger and I’m set!

I’ve finally made the jump to a D SLR for photography fun.

I still have the Kodak p880 on hand for fun, but I’m looking forward to the versatility of exchangeable lenses etc.

This is one of the last Rebel Xts out there, as the model run is over and Canon is pushing the Xti now (the 10.1 Mega pixel model)

007Ben was gracious enough to lend me a memory card while I wait to pay for a new one out of pocket next week.  I took a bunch of shots (focusing on Marco shots as those interest me the most right now)

I have three celebrity contacts on Flickr, how am I gonna make the cut!?!?!

For those of you who aren’t in the know, Flickr is going to limit contacts to 3,000.  Only 300 people on Flickr have more than 3,000 contacts, but I’m pretty sure that a couple of my contacts are in that 300.  Damn.  I love having one of my favorite musicians as a contact, as tenuous a social contact as that may be.  I don’t imagine the other two will cut me, I’m not sure.  007Ben can name at least one of them, but the other is a lightening rod of controversy and I think she’s awesome!  (Rosie, you rule)

Maybe I should use MySpace…. LoL Naw…

A Quick flu update, I think I’ll need to ask for the super-duper flu meds tomorrow at the pharmacy, as I don’t feel much better today than I did yesterday.  I feel better, but I’m still feeling poorly.

I would not have told Dan his GF had cheated on him.  I would have just went to the party he was at, sat down and just hung out.  He wasn’t my friend, and I should have kept my friends confidence over some dudes feelings.

It’s not like they had such a great relationship, I spent two hours hanging out with her at work, he was at a party.

I lost a friend and gained a rep as someone who couldn’t be trusted with a secret.  He dropped a relationship he didn’t really care for.

I was a putz.

I’d do that over. If I could.

NiteGirl is 28 today, she bought herself a new pet to celebrate (a Gerbil – Kang) we had some friction over this, as I don’t want another pet.  Oh well.  She got “The Burning Crusade” and a new WoW subscription from me.  NiteCat and I have been playing Wow Standard together, I like it more I guess.

Things continue to adjust at the office. we’ll see how that comes out.

I’m getting sick, my skin hurts all over and I’m achy.  Maybe the flu?

Ah well, I burned 800+ calories on the Elliptical machine today, running about 2 miles.  Not amazing, but it was uphill for about half the time.

I really need to get on the scales and figure out how much I really weigh.

I dropped Verizon last week, after non-stop 120 dollar (plus) cell phone bills for almost no usage, I’m really just sick of them.

Smoking Aces is not what you think!

Just got in from Smokin’ Aces, boy are they selling that film incorrectly.

First, let me describe the emotions it leaves with me, profound despondency and deeply unsettled.

Now, if you have seen the trailer, you might be expecting an action comedy.  If you are and don’t want this do be spoiled; go ahead and browse away.
Are they Gone?

Oh Kay.

First of all, it’s brutal.   Brutal in so many ways, violent and energetic.  Characters are named, built, then blown away.   Affleck is good in it, with a decent “superfans” Chicago accent.  Ryan Reynolds is great, really.  All of that potential that he showed in his previous roles is up there on the screen, he’s excellent as the Junior FBI agent.  Jeremy Piven is absolutely a star in this flick, conflicted, burnt, strung out and at wits end.   Jason Batemen makes  a great cameo as a  lawyer with some serious personal issues.

There is mayhem, twists and blood.  Buckets of blood.  Blood everywhere.  Violent scenes that happen so abruptly you can’t imagine where they came from.

I’m still reeling.  I was exhausted by some of it.

“what’s best for the customer” is short cut away from logic and responsibility for an organization. they think that as long as the “customer” is happy, they have their collective assets covered. this is a fallacy, the organization really has to itself, “what can we do to make the most profit, while still remaining an admired brand and trusted vendor”

				Frozen out of Car again

After work I was frozen out of my car!!!!


I tried calling Ben for a ride to the store for some lock deicer, but he didn’t answer.  Big Steve R gave me his window deicer, but it didn’t work.  Eventually I used a small screwdriver to provide more torque to open the passenger side door (along with a full-size screwdriver to break the damn seal around the door itself).  Once I got in there, the unlock button failed to loosen the driver-side door.  The darn thing was FROZEN SOLID!


Much manual work and grunting got the door open and I drove it home.


I decided that until the air temperature comes up, I will park in my Garage, with my doors unlocked.


Hopefully that will be the end of getting locked out.
