NiteGirl is Sick

NiteGirl is sick and needed medicine:

“Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic used to treat or prevent certain infections caused by bacteria. Ciprofloxacin is also used to treat or prevent anthrax in people who may have been exposed to anthrax germs in the air. Ciprofloxacin extended-release (long-acting) tablets are used only to treat certain types of urinary tract infections. Ciprofloxacin is in a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It works by killing bacteria.

Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.”

Yup, they gave her the Anthrax cure.  We are still holding out hope for the Slayer-Away

Warm Dust Bunnies

Just came back from “Hot Fuzz” with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead)

It was pretty damn good.  It had the same snappy edits and pacing of Shaun, with the same kind of humor and fun.  Pegg and Frost are a good on-screen duo, playing off each other well.  I won’t poil any of it for you save this, hold on to you hats for the best on-screen flying kick you have ever seen.

All in all, I recommend this movie for action buffs, British comedy fans and Bill Nighy maniacs.

More from the Fire

Gheen Irrigation After the Fire, originally uploaded by NiteMayr.

NiteGirl drove while we went out today to try and get a picture of the damage at Gheen Irrigation. Yesterday it was wet and miserable outside, but I brought an umbrella to take pictures, but it was busy there and I didn’t see a good place to park and take a picture without raising eyebrows.

So, today we drove by as slow as we could and I snapped off a few shots; which you can check out at Flickr.

NiteGirl drove us down town and to the park. She had a couple rough spots, but no one died. It gave me ample opportunity to take the pictures I wanted.

Big Fire in Eugene

Big Fire in Eugene, originally uploaded by NiteMayr.

Karl called me last night while I was knee deep in IM conversations to tell me that Valley River Mall was on fire. After some deliberations we went out and took some pictures of the fire. It was apparently a local firm called “Gheen Irrigation” All jobs lost, it’s very sad. No one was hurt though. It drew a big crowd, some of whom were customers of the storage units next door.

We got home reasonably early (by 10:50) Jen couldn’t take any pictures as she forgot to charge her Camera.

Visit my flickr pages for more.

Ground House

On Tuesday I went out to see Grindhouse:

Planet Terror; Freddy Rodriguez and Rose McGowan fight against an ever growing crowd of shambling herpetic sores.  Freddy is El Wray.  If you know anything about Rodriguez movies, you are now impressed beyond words.  If you don’t know why a character NAMED “El Ray” is impressive, as yourself: “where was Seth going at the end of From Dusk Till Dawn”?

Death Proof
; Kurt Russel collects the bodies of girl quartets for no apparent reason.  He screams like a stuck pig when he’s hurt and cries at the end.  It still managed to have me on the edge of my seat thanking Quentin Tarantino for making it.

Go See it before they split them up.

Thieves and Criminals

While we were out today, (selling my books), I had a brush with CRIMINALS!!! OOOOhhhhh

Actually, it was way after I had already sold my precious tomes.  I was picking up potatoes for tomorrows dinner and was paying when some kids brushed by me to go out the front door of the grocery store (Market of Choice, Represent) two young guys in street clothes pushed passed me and chased them out.  I didn’t think anything of it, but the cashier was watching really close.

When I stepped out, the second guys were bringing one of the kids back in, asking why he took “it” and did he not hav the money for “it”.  Shoplifter.  His friend got a stern talking to, a car screeched up and he jumped in and “escaped”

I saw the kids in the car, with the greasy kid who escaped waiting to leave, I tried to snap a picture, but NiteGirl wouldn’t let me, insisting that she take the picture instead.  She failed to find the button.

Damn.

Anyway, here’s the unlock all code for GH2

BYOROYRYRYRYRYRY – US / NTSC Unlock All
BYOROYBYBYBYBYBY – Pal Unlock All

Have fun.

NOTE:  notq added some comments to this blog post that led down a path I just don’t want to go here.  This is my vapid online diary, basically my bully pulpit.  I don’t really want to discuss politics on here (even though I have) I’ve left my blog post up but taken down notqs (and my) replies. I really don’t want to dialogue with anyone about the “reasons” behind what this kid did.  It’s done, I laughed about it, blog over.

More Moving Stuff

I’m apparently half-way sight-challenged.

I’ve been using Craigslist to look for a new apartment in Toronto (and BC) but not for jobs.

I ended up applying for a few jobs via craigslist today.

d’Oh.

Selling Stuff

Last night a man and his son came by the house to buy my comics.

I have about 1,500 comics for sale (probably more than that, I’m not about to count)  They are not (for the majority) in bags with boards.  They are “read” comics, and in “read” condition.  Some are as old as 40 years.  Some are fairly new.

They are heavy as hell and I had to move 5 boxes of them down the stairs for this guy.

They took a look and said, those are pretty chunked up in places.  I resisted smacking the guy with “you’d look chunked up at 40 too” and offered to let them take 2 for 150.  No Dice.

What a waste of sweat.

I’ll be moving them to the garage tonight, along with any books, etc.  that I’m going to sell or dispose of.

We’ll have the house cleared of “extra” stuff soon enough.

I’m going to  have NiteGirl and NiteCat clear away most of the random stuff in the box in the living room and put our video game controllers, etc in there.

Moving Blues Part Two

I spent some time today stacking up Books (Graphic Novels Really) for sale.  About 20-25 of them I think, maybe 30.  I hate doing this stuff, it’s like giving away bits of me.  I know they are just things, and that my memories matter; but I spent time and energy getting these things, I don’t want that to be wasted.

Due to the changes around the office, everything I’ve worked for over there is starting to slip into pointlessness.  I don’t train any more, I don’t really contribute to the whole pie, except through the strenuous document writing process.  Don’t get me started on All Times Garbage.  I can’t imagine someone spent money on that crap.

Ah, what a gripe fest.

The weather looks nice for this weekend, that should be great.

I’m looking for work in Burlington, Ontario right now.  I hope I get a good job.

Moving Blues

I’m going to have to move soon (by August 15th)

My Work Visa here in the USA expires in October, but I want to make sure I get my family back in Canada in time for the start of School.

So now, I’m selling my stuff:
http://flickr.com/photos/nitemayr/sets/72157600044662420/

I’m selling them on Craigslist first, hoping for a local buyer (Selling 5 long boxes of comics at 50 bucks each)  and a bunch of action figures.  It’s ugly.

These are not the best pictures, but my heart’s not in this (I want to keep my stuff)  As I don’t have a job to go to, I have to try and make my moving load as light as possible.  I have a ton of books and stuff, so I want to hold on to those, and comics (as much as I love them) are not as valuable to me as my books.  So they have to go.
It’s so sad.
