Kevin Wardrop is an amateur writer, amateur photographer and professional pain in the ass. He has worked in the PC support business for most of his adult life and has been accustomed to simply answering technical questions as a matter of fiat, it was his career choice after all. Movie, Next Please!

Just came out of Next. The nick cage movie. In a word, terrible. It was just a long drawn-out version of the scene from minority report where tom cruise is deftly navigated via precognition away from his former teammates.

The fact that I spent more time on the tom cruise movie should not have escaped you. Avoid ‘Next’ it’s ‘next’ to pointless.

EDIT:  I thought that I’d expand my original review.

The cast is okay in the flick, but Nick Cage is way too old to be macking on Jessica Biel.  The movie moves on, with each example of Nick’s powers becoming more an more expansive.  I have to admit that the writer took a fairly smart turn with future viewing and so on, but the ending was SO Cheesy.

I yelled “cheese” when the big ending came, and the audience laughed in agreement.  All 5 of them.
Avoid Next.  It’s a waste of money and time.

My Cousin Josie

Josie at home

I would like very much to tell you a short story about Josie. Josie is not really my cousin. She shares a last name with my Family, but that’s about it We met and became friends in the Summer of 1995, the year I turned 20 for those of you who keep count of such minutiae.

Josie was one of those people who was always he center of the action, people circled around her like a little planet that had an irresistible gravity. People would float in and out of her life and through it all she was an affable person, even in the face of adversity.

I knew we would be great friends almost right away.

We became friends because I can’t tell pretty girls NO.

Ask any pretty girl who has asked me for something when I was under 20 and they can confirm (if they remember me) that I couldn’t answer in the negative when asked, I was totally without spine.

Josie needed help moving out of her crummy basement apartment, but the landlords were very “involved” and needed to be kept out of the matter. I enlisted some help and got to the job. A friend of the family came with a truck and we moved her out and into her new place as fast as possible. There was some open tension from the landlords, but the family friend was a Rugby player and the Landlord was trash. I myself was lifting packages great and small for 5 hours a night, and was no wimp. We moved furniture and belongings as fast as we could.

In hindsight, I’m pretty sure most of the people around Josie just looked at me like the loser who hung out. I’m not even sure if they were wrong. However, I met so many amazing people through Josie and loved those long summer days of just hanging around the local lighthouse or walking around in the dark night.

I wouldn’t have met anyone I know and love now had it not been for Josie. So Josie, I thank you.

The Pod People Are Here

We took a walk in the park tonight, as it is such a nice night.
This group of people started following us, they stopped when we stopped.  We were walking REALLY slow, it was odd that they stayed behind us.

Anyway, I started watching them when the stopped following us, they moved like a flock of birds; one saw something and they all just followed.  It was very very strange.

A Nice Walk

We went out for Dinner with Karl and Tiffany (who is an awesome person, btw). Then we went out to Alton Baker park and scoped out the places where we are planning to set up shop to take pictures of the 5k Race this weekend.

We’ve settled on a few places and NiteCat, NiteGirl and I have walked the course.

We had a blast walking the route and just enjoying the country-like atmosphere.  It was a good evening walk.

Here is a picture from the SECOND part of the race that we are going to photograph.

Hungarian Soup Majesty

Just had some nice soup, normally soup is not blog-worthy, but this was GREAT.

It was a Vegetarian Hungarian Cauliflower soup, loaded with pepper and tomato.  It was server unnaturally hot (volcanic) and I had a Turkey sandwich along with it.  My sinuses are draining due to the pepper content… it was that peppery.

Now I gotta go light on supper or work out harder later on…. damn.

No Gym Today

After Jen woke me up in the middle of the night for the second night in a row, I just couldn’t get up at 4:30 for the Gym… which I hate.

I only took in about 1700 calories and burned about 2500 in straight exercise over the past 24 hours, so I’ve made a positive move any way you look at it.

Tomorrow the plan is to get up early and head to the local gym at my house then do whatever (probably go picture hunting) for the rest of the day.  I’m gonna be selling a bunch more books too, oh well.

If I don’t remember until after the fact, I’ll be heading to the 5 Mile race on Sunday to take pictures of the runners, should be spiff.

Fat Blockers and Fat Guys

I’m looking at getting the over the counter version of Xenical: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orlistat

It’s supposedly due in early summer.  Which means I’ll have to stock up before I leave the US of A.

It’s called Alli.  I’ve been on it before, you have to plan your day around it as it forces you to go to the bathroom more, and you have to avoid fatty foods or you fart grease.  I know that this was an indelicate description, but I really did fart out stuff that vaguely smelled like KFC and looked like liquid cooking oil.  It happened while I was playing Project IGI, I farted then realized that I was warm.  I didn’t feel anything, but I had farted out grease.

So yeah, I’ll be careful.

Jacking up my System

I’m about 112 pounds above the weight I was when I entered grade 12, for those who care that was around 220 pounds.  I want to get down to that weight, so I have a ways to go.

I’ve upped my vitamin B12 and B6 intake, along with an extra supplement of vitamin C and various heart health drugs, I’ve read that B12 and B6 jack up your heart and thyroid functions, which I hope leads to more efficient fat burning.  NiteGirl and I are trying to stick to a low fat diet, keeping our calorie intake below 1800 calories a day.

I’m tracking myself on traineo and relying on friends and family to keep me on the straight and narrow.

My goal is to get below 300 quickly, wish me luck.

NiteGirl is Sick

NiteGirl is sick and needed medicine:

“Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic used to treat or prevent certain infections caused by bacteria. Ciprofloxacin is also used to treat or prevent anthrax in people who may have been exposed to anthrax germs in the air. Ciprofloxacin extended-release (long-acting) tablets are used only to treat certain types of urinary tract infections. Ciprofloxacin is in a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It works by killing bacteria.

Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.”

Yup, they gave her the Anthrax cure.  We are still holding out hope for the Slayer-Away
