I once sat next to Mr. Borgnine at Breakfast; but I had no idea I was sitting next to him. My friends and I shared a nice breakfast in Eugene, Oregon and this older gent and his friend were sitting next to us. The Older Gent and his friend got up and I watched them go; the hospital staff all reacted to him like it was some big celebrity. I said to my friends; “Oh it must be Ernest Borgnine, but he’s dead” and we shared a laugh. When the older gent turned around and it was CLEARLY Ernest Borgnie I could have crawled up into my own colon with embarassement. Oh Well, RIP.
