Sopranos Finale * Spoilers *

So, yeah.  It’s over.
85 episodes, some good, some bad, some great.

I was hooked by Tony Soprano way back when, and now I’m just left wondering.
The Sopranos ended for me, like it began, in the middle of something.  I caught something with Christopher in some early episode, and got hooked on it.  Tony swaggered into Dr. Melfi’s office and I didn’t stop watching.  The Drama surrounding Tony’s Mother reminded me about the troubles my Family had with my Gret-Grandmother as senile-dimentia took over her mind.  AJs constant struggle for approval in Tony’s eyes, and their strained relationship reminded me how hard it has been in the past to connect with my own Dad, which I think we’ve done.

I watched the Sopranos because they were a family, a family with Drama beyond my own, but a microcosm of all the Drama around me, sometimes exaggerated, sometime eerily close to the bone.

There was fraternity and honor.  Something we all respect, in proper context.

There was loyalty and laughter, which we all could use.

Then there was the crime.

We all indulge in little crimes, sometimes without meaning to.    When we see Tony reap the rewards of large and (sometimes) bloodless crime, especially against a larger institution, we got a thrill.

Now it’s over.

And all we are left with is a long cut to black.

Perhaps that was for the best.

EDIT: A more succinct statement on the ending

Garage Sale Post-Script

Hippies Suck.
Rain Sucks.
The DVD Store ripped us off
The Book Store Loves my Graphic Novels
I am still about 200 dollars short.

That is all.

Yep, rain. As predicted.

I nearly called off even going out there (I wish I did, as it would have saved us a ton of effort moving all that crap around)

It started raining before we went out, I asked them to move the damn sale into the gym.  Everyone’s stuff got wet.

I sold all the DVDs and Books, and m,ade around 300 bucks for it. I should have made 500, but I couldn’t get a fair price for my dvds.

Jen and I fought a bit over her driving, but I think I was just frustrated and lashing out.

Oh well.

Birthday Party at Splash

We took NiteCat to her classmates birthday party out in Springfield today. It was at splash, a water park type deal. Thankfully they let me wear a shirt into the pool, no one needs to see my fish-belly gut.

We also attempted to surmount spencers butte again, we got about a mile up this time, I really want to get to the summit before I leave the states.

My Cousin Josie

Josie at home

I would like very much to tell you a short story about Josie. Josie is not really my cousin. She shares a last name with my Family, but that’s about it We met and became friends in the Summer of 1995, the year I turned 20 for those of you who keep count of such minutiae.

Josie was one of those people who was always he center of the action, people circled around her like a little planet that had an irresistible gravity. People would float in and out of her life and through it all she was an affable person, even in the face of adversity.

I knew we would be great friends almost right away.

We became friends because I can’t tell pretty girls NO.

Ask any pretty girl who has asked me for something when I was under 20 and they can confirm (if they remember me) that I couldn’t answer in the negative when asked, I was totally without spine.

Josie needed help moving out of her crummy basement apartment, but the landlords were very “involved” and needed to be kept out of the matter. I enlisted some help and got to the job. A friend of the family came with a truck and we moved her out and into her new place as fast as possible. There was some open tension from the landlords, but the family friend was a Rugby player and the Landlord was trash. I myself was lifting packages great and small for 5 hours a night, and was no wimp. We moved furniture and belongings as fast as we could.

In hindsight, I’m pretty sure most of the people around Josie just looked at me like the loser who hung out. I’m not even sure if they were wrong. However, I met so many amazing people through Josie and loved those long summer days of just hanging around the local lighthouse or walking around in the dark night.

I wouldn’t have met anyone I know and love now had it not been for Josie. So Josie, I thank you.

Frozen out of Car again

I have a new teef

Seriously Messed up

well, a half tooth.  I had a huge cavity in a front tooth.  It was so bad I almost never showed my teeth if I could avoid it.  Today I was at Dr. Dunham’s office and got fillings (and half-a-tooth) in the front. I have a bunch more to go later on.  It was such a breezy visit, walk in, freezing (no pain and didn’t feel the needles) some drilling and filling (with resin) and out again.

During the drilling they were spraying cold water and air across my teeth, that hurt like hell.

Another long Day at the Office

Well, not SOOO long, but long enough.

I rolled in there around 6:30AM and Left around 5:00PM.

It was long enough for me; oh well.
As usual, I can’t discuss the reason; it was work nonetheless.  I will have to pick it up in the morning too; which really sucks as I like to have my mornings for old work.

I think I’ll be taking thursday and friday off (after my aborted ones last week) the Spawn has Friday off so it will work out nice (as Friday is also payday)

We’ll probably hit the grocery store in the early morning and then just gap out after lunch.

Ahh, those easy going days off!

Maybe we should head out to coburg and snap a few shots of that graveyard?
